For the first time, a research team from CEA, Collège de France, CNRS and Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, has developed a new and efficient method for activating an enzyme
in vitro, the hydrogenase, present in microorganisms which use hydrogen as an energy source. This was made possible through a combination of biomimetic chemistry and protein chemistry approaches.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
