Researchers at the Chemistry and Biology of Metals Laboratory, Iramis (CEA Saclay) and Liten (CEA Grenoble) have combined nanoscience and bio-inspired chemistry to develop, for the first time, a material capable of catalyzing both hydrogen production than its use in fuel cells, and this without the need of platinum.
Press release available in French.
This major result, placed in perspective of a more competitive hydrogen economy, is the subject of a publication in the journal Science.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
